(WASHINGTON) — The Department of the Interior has conditionally approved Royal Dutch Shell's plan to resume oil drilling in Arctic waters off Alaska, Reuters reported. Shell proposes to drill up to six wells in the Chukchi Sea, using two vessels that can also serve as relief rigs in case of an emergency. Shell has not drilled in the Arctic since 2012, when the drillship Kulluk ran aground.
