(WASHINGTON) — U.S. lawmakers are calling anew to require exports of liquefied natural gas to be carried on American ships, Bloomberg News reported. Proposals from Rep. John Garamendi, D-Calif., and the Maritime Administration would require U.S.-made and U.S.-crewed ships for the exports despite the higher cost when compared with foreign-flagged tankers. The proposals are gaining attention amid calls to ship gas to Europe to offset possible reductions in supply from Russia.
