WQIS Brings on Strong Marine Talent in New SVP and Support Staff

The Water Quality Insurance Syndicate has proudly welcomed new Senior Vice President, John Ryszetnyk to the team. A graduate of Kings Point, The United States Merchant Marine Academy, John holds a USCG 3rd Mate Unlimited Tonnage License and is a former U.S. Naval Officer. This will be John’s second term at WQIS, having previously served as an Underwriter from 1999 to 2003.

“It’s great to be back at WQIS in this new role as SVP,” says Ryszetnyk, “There’s a great energy in the office right now and I’m looking forward to working with the team to renew our commitment to service while continuing to build and strengthen relationships.”

Prior to re-joining WQIS, John served as assistant vice president for CNA. In this role he managed the Hull and Protection & Indemnity (P&I), Marine Liabilities and Excess Liabilities lines of business; as well as their multiple branches across the country. John has also held various Ocean Marine Underwriting positions for Starr Marine Agency, American International Marine Agency, and Liberty International Underwriters.

“Having John on the team strengthens our underwriting department,” says President & CEO Richard Hobbie III. “He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the marine industry which helps further our leadership role in the market.”

Along with John, two more team members are also joining the WQIS ranks: Angela Konetzni and James Q. Stevens. Angela Konetzni, previously an Assistant Claims Manager at WQIS, has returned after a short hiatus and will be working as a consultant in the claims department. James Q. Stevens is the former head of marine insurance for Scottsdale Insurance Company and is bringing his 40+ years of experience to WQIS. Both will be key in WQIS’s continued initiative of providing superior service and systems integration.
