Whale dies on containership’s bow off California: PHOTOS

(LONG BEACH, Calif.) — A 46-foot fin whale died on a containership’s bow off the California coast, the Los Angeles Times’ Outposts blog reported. The whale became lodged on the bow in the vicinity of Long Beach Harbor. Scientists decided it was too large to remove for examination, so the Chinese freighter was allowed to take the carcass out to sea, where it eventually washed from the bow.
