WCI names Peter Stephaich as new chairman

(WASHINGTON) — As its annual meeting and board of directors meeting in Chicago on Nov. 14, the Waterways Council Inc. (WCI) named Peter Stephaich, chairman and CEO of Campbell Transportation Co. Inc. of Pittsburgh, Pa., as its chairman of the board. Stephaich succeeds Tim Parker, the president of Parker Towing Co. of Tuscaloosa, Ala., who served as WCI chairman from 2016-2018.

Stephaich has served the barge industry for more than 30 years in a number of key roles as past chairman and past treasurer of the American Waterways Operators; past chairman and trustee of the National Waterways Foundation; commissioner and vice chairman of the Port of Pittsburgh Commission; chairman of the Allegheny Institute for Public Policy; and a trustee with the Allegheny Foundation.

“I am grateful to WCI’s membership for the honor to serve as the organization’s chairman. I look forward to working with our coalition of waterways stakeholders as we continue to educate those on Capitol Hill, in the administration, in the news media, and the general public about the critical need to maintain and modernize our nation’s ports and inland waterways infrastructure,” said Stephaich. “I, and WCI, owe tremendous thanks and gratitude to Tim Parker for his counsel and leadership that has resulted in very positive outcomes for the inland waterways transportation system."
