Warming Arctic means more shipping at Alaska ports (PHOTOS)

(NOME, Alaska) — Melting ice in the polar regions means that ships will be venturing farther north, the Los Angeles Times reported. Alaska ports, especially Nome, are already seeing more cargo and cruise ships. The U.S. Coast Guard is preparing for the eventuality by expanding its coverage in the Arctic.
