Vicksburg bridge hit again; grain barge sinks

(VICKSBURG, Miss.) — The U.S. Coast Guard closed a section of the Mississippi River on Wednesday after a 23-barge tow struck the U.S. 80 bridge, the second time in as many days that a tow struck the span, The Vicksburg Post reported. Two barges broke from the tow after the impact at about 1215 on Wednesday, with a grain barge sinking and the other barge later retrieved. The tow was pushed by M/V Inez Andrea and owned by American River Transportation Co.
