Vancouver christens new fireboat, with another on the way

(VANCOUVER, British Columbia) — The first of two new Vancouver Fire and Rescue boats was christened at the Granville Island docks Wednesday, News 1130 reported. Fireboat 1 and another newbuild, scheduled for delivery next year, will replace two older boats that will have spent 25 years patrolling Vancouver waters. The 40-foot boats from MetalCraft Marine can pump 7,500 gallons of water per minute and travel at up to 39 knots.
