Univ. of Maryland research ship to be christened Rachel Carson

(ANNAPOLIS, Md.) — The University of Maryland’s new research ship will be christened Rachel Carson, the Baltimore Sun newspaper reported. The newly built 81-foot vessel, which cost $4.3 million, will be used for environmental and scientific exploration of Chesapeake Bay. The ship will be christened in Annapolis tomorrow.
