U.S., Russians cooperate on Arctic research aboard science ship

(ABOARD THE PROFESSOR KHROMOV) — Teams of Russian and U.S.-based scientists aboard a Russian research ship are working together to learn more about ice melt in the Bering Sea, Reuters and the New York Times reported. The vessel Professor Khromov is conducting an Arctic survey sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Russian Federation of Sciences. Receding ice is allowing the Professor Khromov to venture farther north this year before returning to port at Nome, Alaska.
