(WASHINGTON) — The U.S. Navy has announced the development of a liquid hydrocarbon fuel produced from seawater, AFP reported. The Navy is hailing the fuel as "a game-changer" because it would signficantly shorten the supply chain, a weak link that makes any force easier to attack. That means that instead of relying on tankers — the U.S. military has a fleet of 15 — ships will be able to produce fuel at sea.
