(ARLINGTON, Va.) — A U.S. Navy admiral says commercial ship crews should use armed security guards when sailing through pirate-infested waters, Voice of America reported. Adm. Mark Fitzgerald, commander of the U.S. Navy forces in Europe and Africa, said the world’s navies will never be able to cover the entire area where Somali pirates are operating. He also said more must be done to disrupt the pirates’ land-based support systems.
