U.S. judge sentences Somali pirate to 25 years in prison

(WASHINGTON) — A federal judge sentenced a Somali pirate to 25 years in prison, Agence France Presse reported via Yahoo! News. The defendant admitted to participating in the hijacking of Clipper Group’s merchant ship MV CEC Future. The 39-year-old pirate pleaded guilty to conspiracy in the District of Columbia’s first-ever piracy conviction.
