U.S. Coast Guard, Amver vessels search for missing ship crewman

The following is the text of a press release issued by the U.S. Coast Guard:
 
(PORTSMOUTH, Va.) — The Coast Guard suspended its search for a 30-year-old man at approximately 3 p.m., Thursday.
 
The man was reported missing 184 miles southwest of Bermuda from the Greek flagged merchant vessel, MSC Tuscany, at 5:27 p.m., Wednesday
Coast Guard watchstanders had received notification from Rescue Coordination Center Bermuda, relayed from the MSC Tuscany.
The MSC Tuscany’s crew had reported last seeing the man at 9 a.m., and noticed him missing at noon. After searching the ship, the crew called RCC Bermuda for help.
Using AMVER, the automated mutual assistance vessel rescue system, the Coast Guard directed three additional vessels to help conduct the search.
Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules aircraft crews flew approximately 2806 square miles in the search.
