Two swim to safety after tugboat sinks off B.C.

(HALFMOON BAY, British Columbia) — Two mariners swam to safety on a nearby island after a their tugboat sank Wednesday near Halfmoon Bay, The Prince George Citizen reported. The captain and deck hand were the only people on board Syringa and both made it to Merry Island, where they were met by the lighthouse keeper. Island residents said a barge that was being towed by the tug remained at the surface.
