(SAN FRANCISCO) — The Coast Guard is investigating the cause of a ferry allision that occurred at the San Francisco Ferry Building on Friday afternoon.

A crewmember aboard the ferry San Francisco notified Coast Guard Sector San Francisco watch standers of the allision around 2:40 p.m.

There were reports of two minor injuries that did not require treatment beyond first aid and no reports of pollution.

"The purpose of the Coast Guard's marine investigations is to ensure we understand the cause of the allision and are able to recommend measures that can prevent future incidents," said Lt. Cmdr. Krysia Pohl, Coast Guard Sector San Francisco's Inspections Division branch chief. "Our primary concern in any investigation is safety of passengers and the environment."
