Tug spills diesel after sinking in Cape Fear River

(SOUTHPORT, N.C.) — A tugboat that sank Tuesday and spilled diesel fuel was lifted from the Cape Fear River later in the day, WECT 6 News reported. The vessel, owned by Intracoastal Marine, sank while assisting with piling work at Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point. No one was injured and officials said less than 100 gallons of diesel fuel leaked into the waterway.
