TSB: Capsized tugs weren't strong enough for St. Lawrence River project

(CORNWALL, Ontario) — The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has determined that two tugboats which capsized last summer on the St. Lawrence River were not strong enough to handle the job at hand, Seaway News reported. A TSB investigator said the tugs, Lac Manitoba and LCM 131, were ill-equipped for moving a large barge on the river in late June. Both tugs heeled over because of the strong current.
