Towboat strikes lock, closing Ohio River

(SHIPPINGPORT, Pa.) — Barge traffic on the Ohio River remained stalled Monday morning after a towboat struck the Montgomery Lock and Dam, Trib Live News reported. The vessel ran into a gate of the main lock chamber at about 1530 on Sunday, prompting officials to close the lock, said a spokeswoman for the Army Corps of Engineers. The Corps and the U.S. Coast Guard are investigating what caused the crash and the extent of the damage.
