TOTE cargo ship regains power after being adrift

(VANCOUVER, British Columbia) — The U.S.-flagged cargo ship M/V North Star was briefly adrift about 55 miles west of Haida Gwaii on Wednesday after losing propulsion, the Vancouver Sun reported. The ship was en route from Anchorage, Alaska, to Tacoma, Wash., when an electrical issue knocked out power, according to a spokeswoman from Transport Canada. The Canadian Coast Guard dispatched an offshore patrol vessel to support the TOTE-owned ship if necessary, but the crew was able to fix the problem.
