The Safariland Group names Don Dutton vice president, general manager of Mustang Survival

Dutton brings more than 25 years’ experience in aerospace, defense and commercial industrial markets
 
(JACKSONVILLE, Fla.) — The Safariland Group, a leading global provider of a diverse range of safety and survivability products designed for the public safety, military, professional and outdoor markets, announced that Don Dutton has been appointed vice president and general manager of its Mustang Survival business located in Burnaby, British Columbia and Spencer, W.Va.
 
Dutton joins the company with more than 25 years of experience in the aerospace, defense and commercial industrial markets. Most recently, Dutton held the position of vice president and general manager of the Protection Systems business unit of BAE Systems Inc. In that position, Dutton led the development, manufacturing and delivery of soldier and vehicle protection systems including ballistic armor, war fighter and air crew equipment and vehicle occupant protection systems for the military and commercial markets. Prior to this, Dutton held other leadership positions at BAE Systems, Armor Holdings Inc. and Simula Inc., where he was responsible for leading numerous business efforts, spanning from program management to product and business development, and managing multiple sites in North America and Europe for the Armor Holdings business.

Dutton is a graduate of Arizona State University and holds an MBA and a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. He started his career as a flight control engineer for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, and also worked as a program manager for the launch vehicle business unit of Orbital Sciences Corp., an industry leader in small- and medium-class space and rocket systems.
