Tanker loses power due to exciter failure in Prince William Sound

(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) — A 832-foot ExxonMobil oil tanker stalled in Prince William Sound due to an electrical problem, the Anchorage Daily News reported. The SeaRiver Kodiak experienced an exciter failure on its main generator. The tanker, which contained 25 million gallons of crude, received Coast Guard approval to sail again after it powered back up.
