(BOSTON) — Ship's Automated Identification Systems can present a security risk, TechNewsDaily reported. Because so much AIS data are publicly available, terrorists could track the location of a vessel with relative ease, according to research by Rapid7 Labs. The researchers said they were able to track military and law-enforcement vessels in addition to commercial ships.
