Study: River barges not a major source of air pollution

(BATON ROUGE, La.) — Barges on the Mississippi River are not a major source of air pollutants, the Advocate newspaper reported. A state agency in Louisiana conducted a study of river traffic and found that barges don’t contribute to ozone depletion in a major way. American Waterways Operators praised the results, which are preliminary.
