(KAHULUI HARBOR, Hawaii) — The state of Hawaii is facing a $414,284 price tag for stress-related damage to the dockside barge that the Superferry uses for loading and unloading at Maui, the Honolulu Advertiser newspaper reported. Structural damage to the barge’s hull is occurring where a tugboat holds the barge up against the pier. One storm caused four mooring lines to snap and two mooring bollards to be uprooted.
