St. Lawrence Seaway cargo increased 17% in first half (PHOTO)

(BROCKVILLE, Ontario) — Total cargo in the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway increased 17 percent in the first half of 2010, the Recorder & Times newspaper reported. The same number of ships are sailing, which means they are carrying heavier loads on a per-ship basis. Demand for iron ore and steel slabs is helping to boost the utilization rates.
