SS United States enthusiasts put out another ‘distress call’

(PHILADELPHIA) — Fans of the nation’s former flagship ocean liner SS United States have staged another symbolic event they hope will be a catalyst for saving the decaying vessel, the Wall Street Journal reported. A group of enthusiasts recently sailed out into the Delaware River to touch the hull of the ship that once held the trans-Atlantic speed record. The SS United States Conservancy is trying to raise money to save the SS United States from potential sale to a scrapyard.
