Spears marine plumbing products get Coast Guard approval

Evertuff Cts

(FLOWERMOUND, Texas) — Three products from Spears Manufacturing Co., known for its thermoplastic piping system innovations, have recently been approved by the U.S. Coast Guard.

OceanTUFF, a CPVC marine drainage system, provides a durable, lightweight and cost-effective alternative to traditional drainage materials used in marine applications. OceanTUFF meets the low flame, smoke and toxicity requirements of the 2010 FTP Code and may be installed in concealed spaces in accommodation, service and control spaces without meeting the additional requirements of 46 CFR 56.60-25 (a) (2).

Assembled using simple plumbing tools, the corrosion-resistant OceanTUFF system installs easily using a one-step solvent cement process. Ideal for blackwater and graywater systems, OceanTUFF is available in sizes 1-1/2 inch to 12 inch and offers a wide range of traditional DWV pattern fittings such as P-traps, combo wyes, floor drains and cleanouts. OceanTUFF also has an ABS type approval.

The Spears EverTUFF CTS CPVC hot and cold water distribution system combines the durable, lightweight and corrosion-resistant properties of CPVC with the traditional flow properties of copper tube size (CTS) pipe in a complete system rated to 100 psi at 180 degrees Fahrenheit. The EverTUFF CPVC system is the first of its kind with USCG approval and can be installed in concealed spaces in accommodation, service and control spaces without meeting the additional requirements of 46 CFR 56.60-25 (a) (2). Using simple tools, it easily installs using a one-step cement process. Available in sizes 1/2 inch through 2 inch.

EverTUFF CPVC Schedule 40 and 80 pipe and fittings also are now Coast Guard-approved for use in pressure applications from onboard water and waste treatment to ballast systems. Offered in sizes 1/2 inch through 12 inch, the EverTUFF CPVC Schedule 40 and 80 pipe and fittings system provides a durable, corrosion-resistant and low cost of ownership alternative to existing products that can be difficult to obtain. EverTUFF pipe and fittings can be installed in concealed spaces in accommodation, service and control spaces without meeting the additional requirements of 46 CFR 56.60-25 (a) (2) and easily installed using a two-step cement process with simple plumbing tools. EverTUFF also has an ABS type approval.
