Silverstream, Shell successfully test 'air lubrication' for hulls

(LONDON) — Silverstream Technologies and Shell have announced the successful sea trial of Silverstream’s new air lubrication technology, which the companies say could save ships more than 4 percent on fuel costs, Digital Ship reported. The system produces a thin layer of micro bubbles on the flat bottom of the ship, reducing friction between the water and hull.
