Shipping industry leaders, officials push for national maritime strategy

(NATIONAL HARBOR, Md.) — Shipping company leaders, along with state and federal transportation officials and two U.S. congressmen, urged federal maritime stakeholders on Tuesday to move forward on implementing a national maritime strategy, SEAPOWER reported. The roundtable discussion was held at the Sea-Air-Space Exposition and examined port infrastructure, harbor maintenance, the state of the Jones Act, military sealift, the U.S.-flag Merchant Marine and keeping the nation's commercial shipbuilding base intact.
