Shell begins drilling in Chukchi Sea, but soon stops due to ice

(KOTZEBUE, Alaska) — The Shell drill ship off Alaska's North Slope began drilling in the Chukchi Sea this week but has already paused its work, the Canadian news website NunatsiaqOnline.ca reported. Noble Discoverer commenced drilling Sept. 9, but sea ice forced a halt to the work after only one day. The vessel planned to resume drilling after the ice passed.
