Section of Sabine River restricted due to flood current

The following is the text of a news release from the U.S. Coast Guard:

(HOUSTON) — The Coast Guard and Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's request that all mariners stay off the Sabine River between Orange, Texas, and Bon Wier, Texas, beginning Sunday afternoon.

Restrictions are specific to the area north of Interstate Highway 10 in Orange, extending to State Highway 190 near Bon Wier.

Please remain off the river due to extreme flood currents and wake damage to residents. Please advise anyone sighted on the water to make safe efforts back to the dock or trailer.

This notice is in effect from 12:59 p.m. Sunday, March 13 until Friday, March 18.
