Sandbars strand barges on upper Mississippi (VIDEO)

(WABASHA, Minn.) — Sandbars created by last month's flooding have stranded nearly a dozen barges and their towboats on the upper Mississippi River, KTTC reported. At least nine towboats are tied up north of Wabasha and more are stuck near Winona. It could be almost a week before dredging allows the tows to move again.
