San Francisco hybrid cruise boat uses solar-, wind-charged batteries

(SAN FRANCISCO) — A cruise boat with engines that run on wind, solar and diesel has debuted in San Francisco Bay, Sustainable Industries magazine reported. Alcatraz Cruises’ vessel Hornblower Hybrid stores the wind and solar power in batteries. The 150-passenger hybrid boat uses six gallons of diesel per hour, compared with 30 gallons for a conventional vessel.
