(PITTSBURGH) — Seventeen barges broke free from a facility on the Monongahela River on Wednesday and lodged against a railroad bridge, prompting officials to close the span, Trib Live News reported. A U.S. Coast Guard spokesman said the empty barges floated for less than a half mile before hitting the bridge between North Versailles and Duquesne. The names of the facility and barge owner have not been confirmed.
