(PRINCE RUPERT, British Columbia) — Prince Rupert and the North Coast have a new vessel specializing in fuel-spill response, the Northern View newspaper reported. The Eagle Bay is a 1,320 hp boat equipped with two arms that pushes spilled oil into its hull, where it is separated from the water. Of the 13 such vessels that have been built, this is the first one deployed at a Canadian port.
