Port of Stockton suspends Marine Highway project

(STOCKTON, Calif.) — The Port of Stockton will suspend weekly operations of its Marine Highway project next month, citing container volume that fell well short of projections, The Record reported. The port spent $8 million on the barge service between Stockton and Oakland in addition to receiving a $13 million federal grant. The Marine Highway was launched in June 2013 with projected annual revenues of $15 million.
