Port of San Francisco debuts cold ironing for cruise ships at berth

(SAN FRANCISCO) — The first cruise ship to use the Port of San Francisco’s cold ironing system plugged into the grid today, television station KGO reported. The Island Princess turned off its polluting engines and connected to the shoreside power station. San Francisco is the fourth port in the world to debut cold ironing for cruise ships at berth.
