(HOUSTON) — The surge in domestic oil and gas output is reflected by traffic in the Houston Ship Channel, which is now being used by up to 400 vessels each day, Bloomberg Businessweek reported. With companies planning to spend $35 billion on expansion projects along the 52-mile waterway by next year, questions are being raised about how well the century-old infrastructure can keep up. “We’re still trying to stuff these bigger ships up these tiny ditches,” said Mike Morris, presiding officer of the Houston Pilots.
