Pilot errors blamed in Cosco Busan spill accident report

(SAN FRANCISCO) — The State Board of Pilot Commissioners has ruled that the Cosco Busan oil spill in 2007 was the fault of the pilot aboard, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. In an 18-page report, the board said the pilot failed to read an electronic chart, sailed when it was too foggy and sailed at an unsafe speed. The pilot’s trial on federal charges is scheduled for next month.
