(CAPE BRETON, Nova Scotia) — A Marine Atlantic ferry carrying 450 passengers freed itself from ice Thursday, but a second ferry with 350 passengers on board remains trapped off Cape Breton, CBC News reported. A Marine Atlantic spokesman said the ferries, M/V Highlanders and M/V Blue Puttees, became stuck Wednesday night in more than 3 feet of ice when the wind shifted. Highlanders is now on its way to Newfoundland, while a Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker is on the way to help Blue Puttees.
