NYC sludge tanker to be repurposed as dive reef

(POMPANO BEACH, Fla.) — A retired New York City sludge tanker will be repurposed by Pompano Beach as an artificial reef staged to look like a casino, the Sun Sentinel reported. The 305-foot Newtown Creek will join several other sunken vessels in July to form the city's Shipwreck Park. The ship will feature casino props fabricated from steel and concrete to attract divers.
