NYC plans to order 3 new Staten Island ferries

(NEW YORK) — The New York City Department of Transportation plans to order three new Staten Island ferries, the news website DNAInfo.com reported. The department has published a request for proposals for the design and construction of new vessels to replace the oldest ferries in the fleet. Two boat slated for retirement are the Andrew J. Barberi and the Samuel I. Newhouse. The proposal deadline is Aug. 17.
