NOAA vessel spills oily water into N.H. river

(NEW CASTLE, N.H.) — A National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) research vessel spilled about 200 gallons of oily water into the Piscataqua River on Tuesday, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported. Booms were deployed around the catamaran Ferdinand R. Hassler to contain the discharge, which caused a sheen about the size of a football field. Officials believe the spill was accidental.
