NMC scheduling merchant mariner exams in Guam

(MARTINSBURG, W.Va.) — The National Maritime Center (NMC) will make staff available to provide examination services to merchant mariners in Guam from April 4 to 15. These examinations will be hosted at the Coast Guard Recruiting Office located at 1657-A, Santa Rita, 96915, Guam.

Examinations will be provided by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, contact Regional Examination Center (REC) Honolulu at: rechonolulu@uscg.mil. Mariners who wish to test during this period must notify REC Honolulu no later than March 28 and provide a valid approval to test letter issued by the NMC.

Mariners who have not submitted their merchant mariner credential (MMC) application or received approval to test should contact REC Honolulu immediately to coordinate submission and review.

Two examination sessions will be held each weekday from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and noon to 3:30 p.m. Arrive at the examination location 30 minutes before scheduled testing. Be advised that mariners may choose to begin testing in either the morning or afternoon examination session and thereafter must complete their remaining examination modules in consecutive sessions.

In addition to administering examinations, REC Honolulu staff will be available to answer questions and accept MMC applications.

The NMC Customer Service Center is available to assist mariners from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday. Mariners may reach the call center at 1-888-IASKNMC (427-5662) and IASKNMC@uscg.mil.
