NMC posts illustrations for credentialing exams

The following is the text of a news release from the U.S. Coast Guard's National Maritime Center:

(MARTINSBURG, W.Va.) — In an effort to improve our services to mariners and training providers, the National Maritime Center (NMC) has reviewed all deck and engine illustrations to determine which are releasable without violation of copyright laws. As a result, NMC has posted all of the deck (approximately 160) and 143 of the engineering illustrations on our website (www.uscg.mil/nmc) under the examinations link on the left menu. At this time, the remaining engine illustrations (approximately 600) contain copyrighted materials. The Coast Guard has begun working to create government-owned illustrations to replace those that are copyrighted and will publish additional information as that effort progresses.

Special thanks to Mr. Richard Block, National Mariners Association and Mr. Richard Plant, LAPWARE, INC. for their personal efforts to assist the NMC and the maritime community regarding this matter.
