(WASHINGTON) — USS Milwaukee, the Navy’s newest littoral combat ship, was towed to port last week after suffering a loss of propulsion and could be sidelined for weeks, USNI News reported. The ship was towed about 40 nautical miles to Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story in Virginia after leaving Halifax, Nova Scotia. At the pier, a significant amount of particulate was found in both the port and starboard combining gear of the propulsion system. The ship’s crew reportedly was alerted of the problem by a computerized monitoring system.
