Firebarge

(MEMPHIS, Tenn.) — The city unveiled its new $1.7 million firefighting barge on Thursday for use in the Port of Memphis and on the Mississippi River, The Commercial Appeal reported. The 120-foot-long barge has two main monitors that can discharge a combined 12,000 gallons of water per minute up to 500 feet. Memphis Fire Services Director Gina Sweat said the barge will be used if fire breaks out on a riverboat or at Valero’s riverside oil refinery.
