(SAN DIEGO) — General Dynamics NASSCO will launch its second Marlin-class LNG-powered containership Saturday at the shipyard in Barrio Logan. The first, Isla Bella, was launched in April.
Gates open to the public at 6:30 p.m., the ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m. and the launch will end with fireworks.
The LNG containerships were built for TOTE, which will operate them between Jacksonville, Fla., and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Officials will also announce the vessel’s name during the ceremony, which is timed to take advantage of high tide.
