(SAN DIEGO) — After six years of job freezes and layoffs, NASSCO is resurrecting its new-hire trade program to keep up with demand for new ships, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported. The largest shipbuilder on the West Coast wants to add about 1,000 workers in the next two years, thanks to recent U.S. government and commercial contracts to build 10 large tankers and cargo vessels.
